SIV is an acronym for the French phrase ‘Simulation d’incident en vol’ or in English 'In-flight incident simulation'. The idea of an SIV course is to give a pilot the opportunity to experience a range of potential in flight situations, in order to learn how to manage them safely.
The aim of an SIV and this course in particular, is to build a solid foundation of knowledge and confidence regarding what the glider is telling us in flight and how we can go about dealing with each situation. Once we have an understanding of what certain movements and rustles in the glider mean, we can then start to understand how to play our part in dealing with them safely.
Our course, developed over the past 15 years, is designed to progressively build skills at a pilots own pace, in order to cover all the essential basics of safety in flight.
What are the skill requirements?
An SIV is suitable for all levels of pilot. In fact we believe the earlier you can complete an SIV in your flying career the better.
A launch marshal will be on launch to assist in pulling out wings and to ensure pilots leave launch correctly spaced out time wise, however, you should be confident with unassisted launching and landing
Why join us?
With 15+ years' experience in running SIV courses, we've gained a reputation for being one of the best.
We tailor our course to individual pilot needs and experience levels, going at a pace that is appropriate for each person.
Not only have we trained hundreds of pilots, giving them increased confidence in their wings and flying ability, we are also proud to have trained some of the best of the other SIV instructors out there.
Where are we going?
Oludeniz, in Turkey has long been the place to complete an SIV. Babadag mountain sits behind a well established and friendly tourist resort. This unique location combines easy access to a well maintained launch, with incredible height over the sea for manouveres and a lively resort full of restaurants.
It is one of the few places we go that pilots can easily combine with a family holiday.
How big is the group?
Our standard SIV course is strictly limited to 10 pilots.
Our Small Group SIV is strictly limited to 6 pilots.
We fill spaces on a first come first serve basis.
